Mobile computing subreddits and their choice of words
Mobile computing is up to a big part about communication, which mainly happens using words. Let’s have a look at the vocabulary of users in different mobile communities.
About 688k randomly chosen comments to about 27k submissions from 2013-08 to 2014-07 on /r/android, /r/iphone and /r/windowsphone were collected and analysed for frequency of specific words and phrases.
Social networking
While android users talk most about sms, it is the windows phone users who chat about facebook, instagram, skype, whatsapp etc. the most overall.
Errors
But they also mention error related topics the most. The android people interestingly mention bugs the most bug fixed the least.
Cursing
Perhaps this is the reason for the heavy use of swear words going on in /r/android?
Happiness
The expression of happiness is most present in the windows phone community. Perhaps they are delight by all the fixes they get in little slices? ;)
Mutual mentions
Finally we look at how often the communities mention each others topics.

The android users talk a lot about the iPhone. The reverse case happens much more rarely. Windows phone is the one talked the least about overall.
That’s it. If you want to you can download the raw data all these diagrams are based on.
